No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five where he loved playing various card games when he was young. He found himself becoming very competitive in these particular card games while competing against his dad. After graduating from high school, Howard decided to place college on hold for a little while and headed to New York to compete in some formidable chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s first two years were difficult as he played countless hours and lost most times. He made some additional money by becoming an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He theorized he could boost his game by balancing his life outside of poker. He brought about an effort to acquire more sleep and focus attention more on the game.
The real advancement in his abilities began when he began wagering at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the best gamblers would often challenge each other. He was able to access some of the best minds in chess. With their help, Howard would sharpen his cunning thinking skills. He applied these strategic ideas to the game of No-Limit Texas Holdem.
Howard Lederer also assisted his sister Annie Duke master poker. She was an excellent student of the game as she would always be asking questions about the right way to make the proper decision. Howard told Annie to move out to Vegas and compete in the WSOP tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the best women players the poker arena has ever seen. He moved to Las Vegas in 1993 and competed in money games for the subsequent 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, Howard decided to participate in more tournaments.
