Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
