Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complicated but favored poker variations. It is a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites play from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once irrelevant variation, has increased in popularity so amazingly.

Omaha 8 or better starts just like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are handed out to each player. A round of wagering follows in which gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. 3 cards are given out, this is referred to as the flop. A further round of betting happens. After all the gamblers have either called or folded, an additional card is revealed on the turn. a further round of betting follows at which point the river card is flipped. The players will have to make the strongest high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is where a number of entrants can get baffled. Contrasted to Holdem, in which the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi/lo the player must utilize precisely three cards on the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there is no lower hand presented, the high hand takes the entire pot.

It may seem complex at first, after a couple of rounds you will be able to pick up on the fundamental nuances of play with ease. Since you have people wagering for the low and wagering for the high, and since such a large number of cards are being used at once, Omaha 8 or better offers an amazing array of betting choices and owing to the fact that you have several players battling for the high hand, as well as many trying for the low.
