When will You Going to Learn that Holdem Poker is About Position!
I have been playing poker now for about 5 years, I have played cards my entire life beginning with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various forms of Brag and basic random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so eloquently called, card on head casino game. I used to always win, whatever casino game we were betting and although I liked to call it skill, it was quite difficult to warrant considering the randomness of the games we were wagering, so I was happy to accept I was having a protracted run of good fortune.
Then came Poker, or far more importantly Holdem Poker, made popular by a bunch of Texas card players in the 1960’s and since developed into one of the largest card phenomena ever witnessed. Poker is absolutely the new black, it can be uber awesome with several of the world’s top celebrities racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick flick through the TV channels nowadays and it is possible to not escape from poker, and needless to say there is the fabled WSOP, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for each individual player.
So with all of this new found recognition, with so many Tv programmes devoted to poker, and magazine and book shelves filled up with quality material written by the top minds on poker, when are people going to learn that this casino game is all about position!?
Perhaps I should not obtain so worked up about this, after all the more individuals who struggle with the subtle techniques and strategies needed for winning regularly at Hold’em, the much better it really is for everyone else, right? I mean, if they can not be bothered to read all of the available facts about why position is so critical, why really should we bother? We must just be glad there’s an additional fish at the table!
It is true, we must not reward idleness with guidance and aid. Nonetheless, I liken this to a welcoming casino game of football. Naturally the levels are not so high, but when you notice a gambler having difficulties, you guide them, offer them a number of advice, ultimately showing them a way to get pleasure from, really like and be thankful for the game as much as you. I am asking all house gamblers to do a similar thing with their poker buddies who haven’t quite grasped the subtleties of betting position. Support them to grow their respect for the game. Obviously, do not attempt to try this one in your nearby betting house, the sharks won’t take pleasure in you teaching their supper how to swim!
