Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest gamblers around the world. While participating in internet poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest players anywhere in the world might be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen betting on web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
